This is a very nice little speaker. Yes...it has challenges, and will need special care to be fully functional again. The speaker works nicely in spite of the damaged/worn out cone. The voice coil sounds to be fine. I ran some Ella Fitzgerald thru it a few hours ago and was amazed at the fidelity and clarity. And despite being out of an enclosure, produced a surprising low end. Of course that made the splits in the cone "whisper".

Manufacture date sticker indicates 11/18/55. From what I could gather on the Heritage Page, the 400-B went into production in the late 1940's. The frame is fine, connections look good and work, and the front compression paper gasket is original.
